Dolomite
Dolomite is a major ore from which magnesium is separated.
Origin-: Dolomite was discovered in 1791 by the French mineralogist Deodat De Dolomieu while traveling in the Alps.
Colour-: Colourless, white, grey, pink, yellow, darker colors even brown or black when iron is present.
Hardness-: 3.5 to 4 on the Mohs scale.
Lustre-: Glassy to pearly.
Type-: It may be cut, cabochon, tumbles, carved.
Occurrence-: USA, Ontario in Canada, Pamplona in Spain, Switzerland and in Mexico.
Metaphysical Properties-:
- Helps to release insomnia, nightmares and irregular sleep patterns.
- Encourage original thinking.
- It is particularly a good stone for relieving sorrow, and soothing hurt, loneliness and anxiety.
- Used to help people who lack resourcefulness and who have an acute fear of personal failure.
- Excels in healing emotional and physical aspects of heart and lungs.
- Also used as an aggregate for cement and as a flux in blast furnaces.
